Shincheonji Bible: The Faith of Abraham

What kind of faith did Abraham have?

In the story of Abraham, there comes an instance where Abraham is tested. He is told to sacrifice his only son. Abraham had the intent of doing it, but why?

Abraham's faith was astounding to the point where believers must look at as an example of how to live a life of faith. Due to Abraham's faith, he obeyed God even to the point of trying to sacrifice the only son that he had. He did it because as mentioned in Hebrews 11:19, he had faith that although he would sacrifice his son, somehow God would resurrect him. Why? That is because he remembered the promise of God in Genesis 17:19 that the covenant would be with him and the everlasting covenant for his descendants after him. If Isaac had died, God would no longer be able to keep His promise. Abraham believed that God would fulfill His promise and obeyed God with a faithful heart.

As believers today, we must understand that God has promised us many things within the scriptures. However how can we have faith in a promise we may not know? That is why we must continue to seek and learn the word in order for our hearts to gain more faith and reflect the kind of faith Abraham had towards God. Amen!
