Is Shinchonji Church of Jesus really a cult?
<Shinchonji cafe>

Why is Shinchonji Church of Jesus (SCJ) considered by so many to be a cult? Who is it that has passed such judgment on Shinchonji? Is it a group of people or is it the the holy spirit that has determined that Shinchonji is a cult? What acts as a standard to distinguish cults?

Calling Shinchonji a cult is the same as calling the Old Testament prophets, Jesus, and the 12 disciples heretics (Mt 8; Acts 24:1-5). Since people have been only taught according to the teachings of men, conflict arises when Shinchonji presents the revealed word of God from the Bible. The teachings of men are different than the revealed word of Shinchonji. This clash has driven people to call Shinchonji a cult.

Shinchonji was established in 1984 in South Korea according to biblical prophecy.
Ever since Shinchonji was founded and began preaching the revealed word of God, thousands of Korean Christians have been flocking to Shinchonji.
This migration of Korean Christians to Shinchonji threatened the livelihood of Korean pastors.
Many of these pastors decided to hold several meetings to find a way to deal with this situation.
The strategy they designed to maintain their congregation members included labeling Shinchonji a cult.

Similarly, the priests of the time of the first coming refused to go to Jesus themselves and blocked their congregation members from going as well (Mt 23:13).

They accused the Old Testament prophets, Jesus, and the 12 disciples of being heretics and eventually killed them. Today, too, one Shinchonji member was falsely accused of being a heretic and was even persecuted to the point of death.

It is not God,
but it is today’s pastors who have determined to label Shinchonji a cult.

  • Mt 23:13
“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the door of the kingdom of heaven in people’s faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to.

Today this Scripture(Mt 23:13) is fulfilled in your seeing and hearing.

How did the pastors of Israel treat Jesus at the time of the First Coming? They slandered Jesus by calling him a cult, persecuted him, and they went as far as to kill him.

Then, how about today?

Today is the time of the Second Coming of Jesus, the era of Revelation; we saw what CBS, MBC PD Note and the pastors of the Korea have done to the Shinchonji tabernacle temple and Shinchonji Church, the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony.

Those same people are persecuting Shinchonji as a 'cult' even though it is actually the kingdom of God promised in the Bible.
It seems as if these people were born to persecute and curse others; it seems as if the only word they know is “cult.”
This is a disease that cannot even be cured by God’s word, which is spiritual healing medicine for us. The only thing these people are enthusiastic about is posting slanderous words against Shinchonji on the Internet day and night.
Is it even worth talking to this kind of people?

Shinchonji church tell you plainly about "cult"

What's cult?

Shinchonji church tell you plainly about "the fact of cult"

Jesus told us to freely give what we have freely received (Is 55:1; Mt 10:8; Rv 21:6; Rv 22:17).
Because SCJ(ShinChonJi) is teaching and preaching the Bible free of charge, however, many pastors who charge people for Bible lessons are persecuting SCJ(Shinchonji) and calling us a cult. Which of these two groups is obeying the Bible and which is the true cult—the group that is freely providing teachings according to Jesus’ words in the Bible or the group that is nitpicking about the other group’s faithfulness to Jesus’ commands?

Distinguishing between God's church & church of the world

The congregation doesn’t have the Word because the pastor doesn’t have it, and the pastor doesn’t have the Word because the seminary he studied at doesn’t have it, and the seminary doesn’t have the Word because the spirit, which is the identity of the words, doesn’t exist there.  Who can deny it? God says that anyone who will add anything to or take anything from his Word (revelation) cannot enter Heaven and he will add disaster to him. (Rv.22:18~19)  He also says the Word is with God, so the Word is God, and life is in the Word, so the Word is the light of life (Jn.1:1~4)

We suggest those who insist that Shinchonji Church of Christ is an unorthodoxy(cult), to take a Bible examination between Shinchonji instructors and their doctors of divinity, professors and pastors, and between the saints who were taught by Shinchonji instructors and the saints who were taught by their pastors, in order to determine whom God’s Spirit is with and whose words are biblical.

Those who call SCJ a cult and its revealed word a heresy are themselves the true heretics. Shinchonji has the holy spirit and the true pastor who speaks the revealed word; Shinchonji is truly orthodox (Jn 14; Jn 16; Rv 10). Those who despise SCJ and call us a cult are controlled by the devil. They are following the example of those who called Jesus and his disciples heretics (Jn 8; Acts 24:5). Please take a close look at the book Revelation and Commentaries, which was recently published by Shinchonji. Who speaks the truth and who lies? Lies are the seed of the devil (Mt 13:24-28; Mt 13:37-39; Jn 8:44). SCJ, on the other hand, has mastered the Bible. The one who overcomes has received the blessings promised in Rv 2 and Rv 3. He, along with the promised twelve tribes—the people who belong to heaven—can both be found in SCJ (Rv 7; Rv 14).

Those who are truly orthodox are the ones who receive and testify about the revealed word according to the will of the holy spirit just as Jesus, Apostle Paul, and Apostle John did. Today, only those who receive the revealed word (i.e. the revelation) from Shinchonji can know the only true God, Jesus, and the one who overcomes. They are the only ones who can attain eternal life and realize their hopes of entering the kingdom of heaven (Mt 11:27; Jn 17:3; Rv 10; Rv 21:1-3).
